The Female Sex Slave Traffickers of Belarus

Wanted by the Government of Belarus and Interpol for Organized Trans-international Sex Crimes - Human Trafficking

WASHINGTON DC NEWS -- The Government of Belarus has demonstrated commitment and has made visible efforts to stopping the sex trafficking of human beings, but, the country's capacity to respond to its existing migration challenges is limited. According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), due to its location, Belarus is a transit route for irregular migrants moving westward. Irregular migration includes sex trafficking in human beings. According to IOM statistics, 28,000 persons in Belarus fall victim to human trafficking. The Ukraine Ministry of the Interior reported, 376 incidents of human trafficking, and 393 victims of human trafficking returned to Ukraine, 52 being minors. Note that these statistics are only confirmed police cases.

In 2004, according to the U.S. Department of State's Trafficking in Persons Report, an estimated 600,000 to 800,000 men, women, and children are smuggled across international borders annually. With an annually trafficking rate continuously increasing, 70 percent of these persons are female and 50 percent are children. The majority of these victims are forced into the commercial sex trade. Furthermore, estimates show 14,500 to 17,500 foreign nationals are trafficked into the United States with approximately, 3,500 to 5,500 of these victims coming from Europe. The annually estimated number of U.S. citizens trafficked within the country is even higher with 200,000 children at risk of being trafficked into the commercial sex industry.

The trafficking of humans is defined as the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons, by means of threat or use of force, coercion, abduction, fraud, deception, or the abuse of power over another person for the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation includes, the exploitation for prostitution or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labor for services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, involuntary servitude or even the removal of organs. Furthermore, this heinous crime, Human Trafficking is unlike people smuggling, which is a black market transaction between two willing parties who separate once their business transaction is complete. Human traffickers specifically target a person as an object of criminal exploitation, and the purpose from the beginning of the trafficking enterprise is to profit from the exploitation of the victim. Therefore, fraud, force, or coercion, play a major role in the trafficking of human beings.

How does human trafficking take place in Europe? Poor, uneducated, and unskilled citizens from small towns and villages tend to fall prey to traffickers. The typical scenario involves organized sex trafficking operations using liaisons or recruiters with ties to the local community to recruit local persons. These persons, normally poor young women, are easily lured into a "promising job position" in another country to solve their financial problems. These recruiters gain young women's trust by offering money for a visa and other trip expenses, with the agreement that the woman will pay them back on upon her return. But what the victims don't know is that recruiters are paid a commission for each person they lure.

When the women and sometimes children, reach their across-border destination, they are met by the next level of human trafficking organization, transporters. The transporters confiscate their legal documents and transport them to a new destination. The young women are told they will have to work to pay their debt incurred from their migration before they will get their documents back, and therefore, the prostitution cycle begins. The women are generally started at a somewhat decent establishment, but instead of their debt shrinking, it grows through miscellaneous charges. Additionally, psychological manipulation is used to maintain obedience among the girls, which includes allowing them to call their families to assure loved-ones they are safe. The Phone calls are monitored, and threats to harm family members are used to prevent escape or whistle blowing. Furthermore, studies have shown that 60 to 95 percent of the women are either physically assaulted, raped, or both. Eventually, the women are sold and resold to worse nightclubs and brothels as they grow old. Sooner or later, once they've lost their sexual appeal, the women may get lucky and be turned out to the street. Sometimes they may not reach the street. Of course some women do manage to escape. Some convince clients to take pity on them by paying off their debt.

Sex trafficking is considered the largest specific subcategory of transnational modern-day slavery. Prostitution, pimping, maintaining brothels, and other related sex crimes, supply the growth of modern-day slavery by providing a viable market for human traffickers to saturate. Furthermore, in countries that tolerate prostitution or has legalized prostitution, there is a greater demand for human trafficking victims. Therefore, we have compiled the following list of female sex traffickers that are wanted by the Belarus government for various organized trans-international sex crimes, People Smuggling, Trafficking and Illegal Immigration. They are all Belarus Nationals and are at-large somewhere in the world.

Furthermore, the United Nations has also red flagged these women as most wanted alleged criminals.
